Release notes

1.5.0

Released

This update adds update checks and improves audio onsets, automation, settings restoration and everyday controls.

New features

  • Check for updates: Opening the plugin editor checks the official website for a newer public release, at most once every 24 hours. Use “Auto-check” in “Version Info” to turn automatic checks on or off, or “Check now” to check manually.
  • Read changes and find the update: A notice appears in the upper-right corner when a newer version is available. Read its changes in “Version Info” and use “Get update” to open the product page.

Improvements

  • Preserve audio onsets: When sound resumes after silence, a short segment immediately before the onset is now included. This avoids softening the attack with the previous fade-in.
  • Smoother Play Rate changes: Improved Smoothed mode to avoid stepped rate changes at DAW processing block boundaries. This also applies to AU and AAX.
  • Fine slider adjustments: Hold Shift while dragging to make fine adjustments. MIDI Learn is now available for Smoothing Type.
  • Restore the editor and display settings: The plugin window size and Play Rate’s ratio/semitone display are saved and restored. Theme changes also appear in other open Chronoform editors.
  • Clearer feedback: Improved menu selection indicators, tooltips and save/reset messages. DAWs now display names for choices such as Quality.
  • Lower drawing overhead: Reduced buffer visualizer redraws when its displayed content has not changed.

Bug fixes

Playback and rendering

  • Fixed automatic clearing during short silences at slow playback rates, which could discard later audio that had not played yet.
  • Reduced clicks when clearing the buffer, stopping playback or changing the playback position.
  • Fixed old buffered audio resuming after bypass was turned off.
  • Corrected latency when playback history is insufficient, including immediately after startup or Clear. At 1.0x, the output timing matches the latency reported to the DAW.
  • Corrected an excessively long audio tail reported to the DAW.
  • Prevented invalid or extremely large input values from affecting subsequent audio processing. Ordinary audio above 0 dBFS is not limited by this change.

Settings and licensing

  • Fixed restoration of plugin states saved in the legacy format used by versions 1.0–1.2.
  • Fixed other instances remaining in trial mode after activating a license in one instance.
  • Fixed license activation reverting saved themes or defaults to earlier settings.
  • Improved stability when closing the editor during license activation or while a menu is open.

Controls and display

  • Fixed right-clicking to open MIDI Learn also changing a slider’s value.
  • Fixed unreadable activation button text in the Light theme and clipped menu or dialog text at larger sizes.
  • Fixed invalid text in the Play Rate value field changing the parameter value.
  • Updated the buffer visualizer’s duration label to reflect the actual buffer length.

Before updating

Fixes to onsets, playback immediately after Clear and Smoothed automation can change playback or rendered audio compared with earlier versions. Save a copy of your project before updating, then check playback and rendering.

1.4.1

Released

Improvements

  • Reduced CPU and memory use during audio processing.
  • Added Light and Dark themes to the menu, with the selected theme saved for future sessions.
  • The macOS installer now selects already installed formats when updating. On a first installation, it asks you to choose the formats you need. You can still change the selection manually.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed old audio reappearing after Clear and a drop in level when playback resumed in Warm mode.
  • Fixed automatic buffer clearing during silence.
  • Fixed VST3 and CLAP automation so Play Rate changes are applied during silent waiting periods and with closely spaced events.
  • Fixed discontinuous Play Rate changes when adjusting Smoothing Time.
  • Fixed DAW block-size changes being mistaken for seeks and Clear requests being lost while a clear was in progress.
  • Corrected the tail length reported to the DAW to address truncated endings when rendering at slow playback rates.
  • Fixed audio-thread waits in MIDI Learn and duplicate saved MIDI mappings.
  • Fixed theme and font settings being applied incorrectly when reopening the editor or loading a preset.
  • Fixed numeric slider text and background colors not following Light/Dark theme changes.
  • Fixed the played-region colors in the buffer visualizer after a full buffer turn or reopening the editor.
  • Fixed trial start-time initialization and the layout of the initial activation/trial dialog.
  • Addressed older user-installed plugin copies remaining active after macOS updates. For selected AU, VST3 and CLAP formats, old user copies are moved to a backup after the new system copy is installed. Quit your DAW before updating and restart it afterwards.

Fixes may change playback and rendered audio compared with 1.4.0 in the affected conditions.
